Sustainability is a lived matter of course for Aronia ORIGINAL founder Jörg Holzmüller and his team. Sustainability arises from the nature of things – in the truest sense of the word.
Unlike other superfoods such as avocado, pomegranate, Acerola, acai and goji, the aronia berry grows in local regions. The oldest and largest cultivation areas in Germany are found in Brandenburg and Saxony. Here, our aronia berries grow on vibrant, natural Organic and Demeter plantations without synthetic pesticides, mineral fertilisers or genetic engineering.
The fact that nature is still intact here is evident from the biodiversity in flora and fauna. Wildflowers and herbs grow between the aronia plants, creating additional habitats for insects and birds.
“Regionality is a priority not only in cultivation but also in the processing, bottling and packaging of our food. This allows us to keep transport routes short, support our regional partners and rely on a regional value chain,” says aronia pioneer Holzmüller. ”This strengthens rural regions and our local agriculture, ensures food security and protects the environment and nature.”
The trade magazine COMPUTER BILD, together with the market research institute Statista, conducted a study for the first time to identify the most sustainable online shops in Germany. From thousands of German online shops, the 250 most sustainable were selected in a multi-stage process. This is intended to give consumers guidance on which online shops operate in an environmentally friendly manner.
The evaluation criteria included the origin of raw materials, organic quality, delivery and packaging. In the food providers category, the medium-sized company Aronia ORIGINAL was awarded the “Top Sustainable Online Shop” seal.
